Clark Terry brought some 60 years of jazz trumpet history to life at Jazz Alley, distilling decades of playing with Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, and Johnny Carson's Tonight Show bands, amongst others. He was recognized as an NEA Jazz Master in 1991.
His tone, articulation, and lyrical interpretations of standards, on both trumpet and flugelhorn, were aborbing. Not to mention his well-seasoned sense of humor.
