Karrin Allyson : hear the music

Karrin introduced tunes from her latest release, Wild for You, bringing her own brand of phrasing and melodic interpretation to songs by Joni Mitchell, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, and others not often found in the jazz catalog. She did a fine job bringing a jazz sensibility to these pop songs, but I especially enjoyed her selections from Ballads: Remembering John Coltrane, and the blues from In Blue - two favorite recordings. Her excellent working band featured pianist Paul Smith, and guitarist Danny Embrey.
