One of the most important elements of a park, whether it's a sculpture park or a dog park, is trees.

Today, the first trees arrived at the Olympic Sculpture Park, for what will become a Quaking Aspen forest on the Grove Precinct at the south end of the middle lot.

A flat-bed truck loaded with about 30 trees arrived shortly after work began in the morning.

By midday, the first tree was in place, and all the other trees waited, lying on their sides, for their turn to take a place on the hill. By mid-afternoon, the crew positioned a third tree, and the little forest began to take shape.

At the north end of the lower lot, the new and old paths have merged. On the upper lot, two tall hills have been built, off the Pavilion's SW corner.

Check SAM for construction updates.
