Yesterday afternoon, in a pouring rain, this pile-driving crane tested the limits of it's reach, soil gave way, and the whole thing fell over, the 80 foot crane blocking 4 sets of BNSF tracks and rail traffic in both directions. According to reports no one was hurt.
The Sellen Construction crew, in typical efficient fashion, brought in another crane. Working into the night they cut and removed the crane, one section at a time.
The tracks were cleared by 8:20 in the evening. The next morning, after the tracks had been examined by BNSF officials, Boeing 737 fuselages were rolling through on flatbeds and the tractor portion of the crane was being hauled back to flat land.
Meanwhile, on the upper lot, the last iron beam on the Pavilion was put in place, signed and commemorated by the iron workers from Local 86.
